Tax Benefits

Retiree benefits: Article 3 of Chile’s Income Tax Law begins with the general rule that anyone resident in Chile must pay tax on their worldwide income (rentas de cualquier origen). It immediately carves out a strict exception for newly arrived foreigners, however: for the first 36 months, the Chilean Internal Revenue Service (SII) is legally barred from taxing your global wealth, foreign investments, or overseas rental property. The law also explicitly allows you to request an extension of this tax holiday from the SII, and if approved, your exemption can be extended for an additional three years — giving you a total of six years of foreign-income tax protection. |
